Dr. Leslie Gavin Devitt
Dr. Leslie Gavin Devitt has been involved with Florida Abolitionist since the office doors opened on March 1, 2010, in downtown Orlando. Since then, Dr. Gavin has assisted Florida Abolitionist with the development of the Victim Services program, including psychological assessment and supervision of the case management program.
Dr. Gavin Devitt is the co-chair of Victim Services Subcommittee of the Greater Orlando Human Trafficking Task Force, Inc. Her accomplishments include assisting the Florida Department of Children and Families and the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice with creating the screening and placement tools for minor victims of commercial sexual exploitation and labor trafficking.
Dr. Gavin says, “I’m very passionate about ending human trafficking. I founded a nonprofit called Releasing Chains that raises money to support efforts in Greater Orlando and have traveled to Thailand and Cambodia on missions to address issues of poverty and human trafficking.”
Professionally, Dr. Gavin Devitt is a Clinical Psychologist at Nemours Children’s Hospital, with areas of expertise including autism and child development. Dr. Gavin Devitt has a Ph.D. in Child Clinical Psychology from the University of Denver. She completed her internship at the University of Colorado Health Science Center. She is married to George Devitt and has four wonderful children.
