You can help stop human trafficking! How can you use your gifts, skills, and abilities to bring an end to this horrible crime? Below are a few of our greatest needs for volunteers. However, if you don’t see something that interests you, please fill out our application and we will do our best to find a way for you to get involved.
Hotel Outreach – Are you passionate and want to get out in the community to help end human trafficking? Join our hotel outreach team and help educate hotels about the crime in one of its most prevalent locations. This is an opportunity on an occasional basis and you will receive training as a part of the event from our Hospitality and Tourism Coordinator.
Hotline Ambassador – Do you have a background in social work, counseling, or crisis response? If so, you could serve as a Hotline Ambassador to take calls to our 24/7 human trafficking hotline. Background check, a thorough interview and application process, and training are required. This position reports to our Clinical Services Director.
Juvenile Detention Outreach – Are you passionate about helping keep girls safe from human traffickers? The Juvenile Detention Outreach may be for you. Visit a local Detention Center once per month to teach the girls about human trafficking and how they can stay safe. Background check, a thorough interview and application, and training are required. This team reports to the Juvenile Detention Outreach Coordinator.
Event Planning – Are you detail oriented? Do you love throwing a party? You could use your skills to help stop human trafficking! We are looking for a group of hospitality experts who will work with our Public Relations Director to plan and execute events throughout the year. Events could include training events, 5k runs, an annual gala, and more!
Training and Speaking Team – Are you a gifted teacher or verbal communicator? You can use your skills to prevent and fight human trafficking. Florida Abolitionist receives requests on a regular basis for qualified speakers to teach civic groups, businesses, churches, etc. about the realities of modern-day slavery. As a member of this team, you will have the opportunity to prevent human trafficking and help raise up an army of abolitionists equipped to join the fight. Attending our Abolitionist Training is required. You will report to our Training Coordinator.
Web Developer – Would you like to use your web design skills to end slavery? Are you experienced developing Word Press websites? Then you can make a difference. Our website is an opportunity to educate and engage the public to help end slavery. You can help!
Social Media – Is Social Media a regular part of your life? Do you have marketing experience to grow an online audience? We are looking for a passionate individual to work with our Creative Director on some of our Social Media platforms. By doing so, you will help end modern-day slavery by educating the community about this horrible crime. This is an ongoing opportunity that would require approximately 2 hours per week. Attending our Abolitionist Training is required. You will report to the Creative Director.
Administration – Do you enjoy working behind the scenes and serving? You will greet people in person and over the phone as well as enter data, handle mailings, and anything else needed in the office. We are looking for multiple people to volunteer their time Monday through Friday from 10am-5pm. Partial and full day shifts are available. You will report to our Administrator.
Fund Development / Grant Writing – Would you like to help bring in the resources necessary to end slavery in our community? We are looking for passionate team members who can connect us with potential financial partners or write grants. Without adequate funding, our mission will not move forward. Join us by helping provide the resources to make the abolition of slavery a reality! You will report to our Development Director.
Demand Prevention (men) – Are you passionate about helping men experience freedom from sexual addiction? Then this team may be for you. Human trafficking exists because people are willing to exploit others. Without the demand for sex, traffickers would go out of business. The Demand Prevention team meets with small groups of men to help them break free from the bonds of pornography and sexual addiction. Attending our Abolitionist Training is required. You will report to our Demand Prevention Coordinator.
Writing and Communications – Are you gifted in communications or marketing? Use those skills to help people learn about human trafficking and join our efforts to fight it! This team will produce written communications as well as use social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) to help raise a strong group of abolitionists committed to ending modern-day slavery. Attending our Abolitionist Training is required. You will report to the Creative Director.
Photographer – Are you a gifted photographer? You can use those skills to help end slavery! Use the power of images to help tell the story of modern-day slavery and what Florida Abolitionist is doing to help bring it to an end in Central Florida. You will be a part of the Communications team and report to the Creative Director.
Videographer – Are you a storyteller? Your video skills can make a huge difference in the movement to end slavery! Creating video pieces to communicate the reality of trafficking and how to identify it can have a huge impact. There are numerous ways video can be leveraged for the cause. You will be a part of the Communications team and report to the Creative Director.
